Dear Superheroes, Superheroines, and Superfans!
The long-awaited moment has finally arrived! After decades of seeing Batman, Spiderman and Superman on the big screen, the very first Wonder Woman live action film has finally been released! And (drumroll)-it was directed by a woman!
Award-winning director Patty Jenkins is the first woman to direct a big budget comic movie. In her conversation with CBS This Morning, she speaks to how this is not your usual superhero film, and how Wonder Woman’s mission and message couldn’t be more timely.
This new chapter of Wonder Woman’s legacy stands to shape our collective vision of a strong, empowered female character—especially in the minds of today’s girls and boys. And with the current industry dialogue around equal pay and representation for women, it has never felt more important to engage a new generation of media consumers (and media makers) in the conversation on how women are represented and seen in the media.
To that end, educational DVDs for Wonder Women! The Untold Story of American Superheroines are available for use in curricula, after-school programs, and libraries. Our interactive Wonder City game and educator guide are also available free online.
We encourage you to take the opportunity to bring this timely discussion into your school, community and home.
Best,
